Copying SQA Basic files to a Local SQA Directory

To copy SQA Basic header and source files from a common SQA directory to your local SQA directory:

• Close any SQA Suite programs that are running

• Do one of the following

From the windows taskbar: choose start-->Programs-->SQA Suite-->SQA Administrator.

From Program Manger: Double – click the SQA Administrator icon in the SQA Suite program group.

• If necessary, select the SQA Repository tab.

• Select the local SQA Repository into which you want to copy the files.

• Select the Common SQA Directory tab.

• Choose Browse, double-click the directory that contains the files you want to copy, and choose OK.

The directory name appears in the Common SQA Directory edit box.

• Choose Copy SQA Basic Files To Local SQA Directory.

• Choose Yes to copy the files

Choosing as Existing Common SQA Directory

• Close any SQA Suite programs that are running

• Do one of the following

From the windows taskbar: choose startProgramsSQA SuiteSQA Administrator.

From Program Manger: Double – click the SQA Administrator icon in the SQA Suite program group.

• Select the Common SQA Directory tab.

• Choose Browse, double-click the directory you want to use, and close OK.

The directory name appears in the Common SQA Directory edit box.

• Select the SQA Robot tab.

• Choose Common SQA Directory.

• Choose OK to set the directory.

Creating a common SQA Directory

• Close any SQA Suite programs that are running

• Do one of the following

From the windows taskbar: choose start-->Programs-->SQA Suite-->SQA Administrator.

From Program Manger: Double – click the SQA Administrator icon in the SQA Suite program group.

• Select the Common SQA Directory tab.

• Choose Create Common SQA Directory. The SQA Administrator runs a setup wizard and then displays a dialog box for specifying the location of the common directory.

• Do one of the following:

Enter the drive and pathname for the new common directory. (You must have write privileges for that drive and directory.)

Choose Browse to select an existing directory. Double-click the directory you want to use and choose OK. The directory name appears in the edit box. Append the name with a backslash (\) and the name of a few subdirectory. (You must have write privileges for that drive and directory.)

• Choose Next to continue.

• Choose Next. After the new common directory is created, its name is inserted in the Common SQA Directory field.

• To use this common SQA directory, select the SQA Robot tab. Select Common SQA Directory and choose OK.

Note: If you have SQA Load Test installed, and you are running SQA Administrator from the SQA Load Test Master test station, you cannot create an additional Common SQA Directory. Use the Common SQA Directory that was created during SQA Load Test installation.

Selecting a Scripting Language

To select a test procedure scripting language:

• Close any SQA Suite programs that are running

• Do one of the following
From the windows taskbar: choose start-->Programs-->SQA Suite-->SQA Administrator.

From Program Manger: Double – click the SQA Administrator icon in the SQA Suite program group.

• Select the SQA Robot tab.

• Select either SQA Basic or Visual Basic.

• If you selected SQA Basic as the scripting language, do one of the following:
Accept the default Local SQA Directory.

Select the Common SQA Directory to use SQA Basic header and source files stored in a common SQA directory. To specify the common directory, select the Common SQA Directory tab and enter the directory name.

• If you selected Visual Basic as the scripting language, accept the default VB Path installation directory, type a new directory, or choose Browse and select a directory.

• Choose OK to set the scripting language.

Choose Help-->About SQA Robot in SQA Robot to verify the current scripting language. These radio buttons are enabled only if you selected both Visual Basic and SQA Basic as scripting languages during installation. Virtual user procedures are only supported by the SQA Basic scripting language.

About Scripting Languages

You can use the SQA Administrator to select SQA Basic or Visual Basic as the test procedure scripting language.

SQA Basic is SQA’s scripting language for recording actions during the creation of a test procedure. SQA Basic includes most of the syntax rules and core commands found in the industry-standard Microsoft Basic Language. In addition, SQA Basic features commands specifically designed for use in SQA test procedures.

If you have existing SQA Suite test Procedure scripts in Visual Basic. You can migrate to SQA Basic or continue creating test procedure in Visual Basic.

SQA Basic lets you do the following:

• Create test procedure scripts in the SQA Robot window as you record.

• Record new actions and test cases directly into an existing test procedure script.

• Edit scripts in the SQA Robot window.

• Debug scripts in the SQA Robot window.

Visual Basics lets you do the following:

• Compile your scripts into standalone executable programs (.EXE files).

• Use an application like Notepad or the Visual Basic environment to edit test procedure scripts.

• Use the Visual Basic environment to debug test procedure scripts.

Note: Virtual user procedures are only supported by the SQA Basic scripting language.

Deleting an SQA Repository

Note: Make sure no one else is using the SQA Repository you want to delete.

To delete a Microsoft Access or SQL Anywhere single-user repository:

• Close any SQA Suite programs that are running

• Do one of the following:

From the Windows taskbar: Choose Start-->Programs-->SQA Suite-->SQA Administrator.

From Program Manager: Double-click the SQA Administrator icon in the SQA Suite Program group.

• If necessary, select the SQA Repository tab.

• Choose Delete Repository. The SQA Administrator runs a setup wizard.

• In the edit box, enter the drive and pathname for the repository you want to delete, or choose Browse and select the repository. ( you must have write privileges for that drive and directory.)

• Choose Next to continue. The setup wizard shows the path of the repository you want to delete.

• Choose Next to delete the SQA Repository. Make sure no one else is using the SQA Repository you want to delete.

Copying an SQA Repository

To copy a Microsoft Access or SQL anywhere single-user repository:

• Close any SQA Suite programs that are running

• Do one of the following

From the windows taskbar: choose start-->Programs-->SQA Suite-->SQA Administrator.

From Program Manger: Double – click the SQA Administrator icon in the SQA Suite program group.

• If necessary, select the SQA Repository tab.

• Choose Create Repository. The SQA Administrator runs a setup wizard.

• Choose one of the following:

Copy all information from an existing SQA Repository – copies the entire contents from the existing repository. For example, you can copy all information to update or backup the repository, or to convert it from one type of database to another.

Copy non-project information from an existing SQA Repository – copies non-project specific information from the existing repository. For example, you can copy non-project specific data to create a new repository for testing a new release of an existing application

• Choose Next to continue.

• In the edit box, enter the drive and pathname for the existing source repository, or choose Browse and select a repository.

• Choose Next to continue.

• In the edit box, enter the drive and pathname for the new repository, or choose Browse and select a directory. (you must have write privileges for that drive and directory)

• Choose Next to continue.

• Select the type of new repository to create:

Microsoft Access repository – creates the repository with Microsoft Access database.

Sybase SQL Anywhere repository – creates the repository with a Sybase SQL anywhere single-user database.

• Choose Next to continue.

• The setup wizard confirms the type and location of your new repository.

• Choose Next

• The setup wizard creates the new SQA Repository.
